Sun Safety Just Got Cuter

Besides lookin' pretty dang adorable, these mini bucket hats help keep our groms faces nice n’ shady while they’re outside running around in the sun. And If you're a parent (or auntie/uncle) that loves to sew, this'll be your jam.

We used a super soft terry cloth material (pre-loved towels work great) to make these, but there are a ton of other fabrics out there that would work really well with this pattern, especially if you want to upcycle some materials you already have at home!

Oh, and while we designed this template to fit sizes 2T/3T, it’s can be customized to fit your mini-me with just a few minor adjustments.

Here's what ya need to start!

Materials

  1. Sewing Machine
  2. 1-1.5 Yards of your chosen fabric (i.e. linen, denim, canvas, but nothin’ too flimsy)
  3. Scissors
  4. Matching Thread
  5. Pins
  6. Printed Bucket Hat Pattern
  7. Iron and Ironing Board (Optional)

  4. To make the brim firm, you can stitch 2-4 rings around it. Ironing the pieces down beforehand helps too, but it’s not necessary.
  5. Once the hat is finished, throw it in the wash to get rid of any loose fabric pieces.
